So Long, Bomber

Today was a bit of a sad day at the Falconers. We finally made the decision to put our cat Bomber down. He'd been acting strange for a couple of weeks, bleeding from his nose, and we discovered he had very high blood pressure. We tried treating that with medication, but the bleeding continued. Today we noticed his nose and face actually looked different, and the vet confirmed that there seemed to be a bump and puffiness around the bridge of his nose "that could be any number of things." Given our rather awful and drawn-out medical experience with our other cat Anthony, we decided Bomber had a pretty good run of 14 years. I'll miss his lap time. I won't miss the hairballs. From nearly-feral shelter cat to affectionate nuzzler, he was a pretty good pick.

How's Ben handling it? Again, so sorry for to hear this sad news.

Ohhh guys, so sorry to hear that. I'm sad to see Mr. V neck go, though I'm with you on avoiding the long descent. I'll miss his attempts to convince everyone who entered the house that no one feeds him. He was a good little buddy...hope you're all doing ok.

ok, I'm dumb. I edited out the mr. v neck comment cause I second guessed whether that was Bomber or not (I seem to recall someone with a cat doing "v neck, round neck" with the white fur on his neck...was that Bomber?) Guess I hit send on the first one.

so sorry guys. that is sad news.

Thanks, everyone. Ben's handling it fine--he's still too young to really get it. He didn't see Bomber being put down--we figured not a good thing for him to see the cat get a shot, fall asleep and get left at the vet, considering later that day we were all going to get vaccinations! Yep, Becky, you got it right--he was v-neck/crew-neck cat. I'm impressed you remember that--that was a long time ago!
