Dump Truck!

We have a new favorite game. Ben also got some new boots. He took a nap in his coat, and then didn't want to take it off after he woke up, instead choosing to put his boots back on. Then of course it was time to ride the dump truck around....

Truck!

Since Christmas is usually a kind of barely-controlled madness, we've decided to let Ben open a couple presents early over the next couple of weeks. He got to play with a sweet new fire engine from Uncle Arn and Aunt Christie over Thanksgiving, and tonight was a totally awesome Tonka front loader truck from (Dr)unkle Jim. At his request, his bedtime story was the Tonka advertising insert that came with it....

So Long, Bomber

Today was a bit of a sad day at the Falconers. We finally made the decision to put our cat Bomber down. He'd been acting strange for a couple of weeks, bleeding from his nose, and we discovered he had very high blood pressure. We tried treating that with medication, but the bleeding continued. Today we noticed his nose and face actually looked different, and the vet confirmed that there seemed to be a bump and puffiness around the bridge of his nose "that could be any number of things." Given our rather awful and drawn-out medical experience with our...

Halloween Marathon Weekend

Halloween started at Ben's day care, with a party, a parade around the neighborhood, and then trick-or-treating at the retirement home next door. As you can see, Operation Elmo went down in flames. We gave it a shot, but probably would've gotten a visit from DCFS had we kept the costume on him.
We really need to sit down and decide what to have printed, but here's a sampling of the absolutely fantastic photos our friend Ben Sawyer took of Ben a couple weeks back. He is a great photographer, and awesome with kids. We highly recommend him....

Operation Elmo Update

Operation Elmo appears doomed to failure. Despite a love/hate relationship with the costume, Ben seems to have drawn the line at actually putting it on. A trial fitting a couple days ago ended in tears. Frantic, panicked tears. A typical conversation goes like this: "Ben, do you want to be Elmo for Halloween?" "No! Go away!" If you give him the costume and say, "Hey! Look, it's Elmo!" he'll take it and say, "No! No!" and then give him a hug and start kissing his nose....

Operation Elmo: T-minus 10 Days and Counting

We've decided to go for it and try to really sell the idea of an Elmo Halloween to Ben. So far, there appears to be a reluctant acceptance of him in the house, but not at all happy about getting anywhere near putting it on. He did give Elmo goodnight kisses. Where do they get these kids to model these costumes, anyway? I'm fully convinced we are headed for a reprise of the infamous "Chickenbutt Incident" of 2006....
